Lauren was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 11 months old. An athlete, she has grown up having to be conscious of and monitor her own blood sugar and administer insulin manually. She recently received the OmniPod 5, which automatically monitors her blood sugar and insulin levels and adjusts them as needed.

Dr. Andrea Iglesias, Urban Health Partnerships

Andrea suffered a SCAD heart attack less than two weeks after becoming a new mom at age 37. With the help of Abiomed’s Impella CP® heart pump, she was able to make a full recovery and return to her full-time work running an organization that focuses on health equity and enjoying time with her family.

Matt suffered from cardiac arrest at 21 and was told even if he recovered, he’d have severe brain damage. With a positive attitude, strong work ethic, advanced medical treatments, and the Boston Scientific Emblem SICD, he was able to defy the odds.

Candace Copher, Global Sales Development Associate, Gentuity

Candace’s husband, Jeff Copher, was involved in a very serious accident in 2021 – struck while riding his bicycle – and he was life flighted to the hospital where he underwent emergent neurosurgery. He sustained a severe traumatic brain injury and doctors told her that the odds were very slim he would make a full recovery. After months of procedures and rehab, today he is living a meaningful and joyful life thanks to medical technology innovations.
