Andrea Panzera, Chief of Staff, Activ Surgical

With a liberal arts degree, Andrea’s first job out of college was a starting point to learn what she did not like. Unfulfilled and underappreciated, she sought out new opportunities where she could make a difference. She thought to be in medtech or healthcare she had to be a doctor or be a Ph.D., but she discovered it simply takes smarts and a passion to do more and help others.

Ratneary Rin, Senior Operations Assistant, Gentuity

Ratneary came to the United States from Cambodia in 2005 and soon thereafter began working in the medical device industry. While learning English, she worked as an assembler, picking up new skills and knowledge. In an operations role today, she loves that even after being in the industry for almost 15 years, she continues to learn and be challenged.

Sheila Gebel, RN, MSN, Senior Director, Global Training, Abiomed

Sheila has spent the majority of her career as a hospital executive, growing professionally to oversee the cardiovascular service line for a market of three hospitals. She never thought she would work in industry, but when she met the Impella® device from Abiomed and saw the impact it had on patients’ lives, she was sold. Today, she is inspired to lead a global team that partners with clinicians to teach best practices and continually improve cardiac care.

Anna King, MassMEDIC

Anna was diagnosed with a rare heart condition at age 12 that required her to have a heart transplant. She waited over two and a half years, and at age 14 received a life-saving heart transplant. She says she is here because of “a doctor, a donor and divine intervention.” It has become her mission to advocate for heart health and organ transplants, and she finds personal fulfillment working in the medtech industry.

Manisha Shah-Bugaj, CEO, Activ Surgical

Manisha thought she wanted to become a doctor, but a family friend told her to do something where she could change the world. Pursuing biomedical engineering and business as a career, she found her calling in the medtech industry.

Medtech found Katherine after she had been working in the restaurant industry for 20 years. She was looking for more work/life balance to be able to spend time with her young son. She found a career in the industry that she not only was qualified for with her restaurant operations management skills but fulfilled her personally.
